I'm curious. Where are some examples of places in those regions where there is snowfall?

I have heard that even in part of Morocco it snows.
And part of Kenya in the mountains.
And I keep reading that some parts of Mexico get snow too.

Is this true?

Sometimes it snows in Israel, in the high grounds.

I know it snows in Lebanon because of Mount Lebanon, but in Israel I am a bit surprised.

In Lebanon it snows in the mountains (and we're the only Middle Eastern country that has no desert ;p). It snows in Syria and Palestine. In Saudi Arabia, there are certain areas where it hails.

The idea of snow in the Middle East is just hard to wrap my head around, same as Africa. But I know in places it does.

Even Israel surprises me since I think of it as an arid and dry place.

I know there's a couple of ski centres in Morocco (Atlas Mountains). But they cannot thrive because snow covers the ground only for 2 months (January-February). So I guess that there are some people on ski slopes at this moment. I heard also that in Sierra Nevada Mountains (Andalusia?) there were glaciers till 1912 but even now there are very good snow conditions.

It doesn't snow in the Arabian Peninsula (although it does hail, more of 'freak weather' in some areas in the Gulf) but why not in the Levant? :) the Levant is full of greenery and hills/mountains, it's not arid and dry (except Jordan)..

Snow cover would be more of a northern Middle Eastern thing than it is, say, Western European:

I mean I guess I should have known that because the Levant wasn't known as the "Fertile Crescent" for no reason. But in my mind, it's desert. Maybe I am just thinking of because when my mom forced me to take religious studies classes and we had to hear about the Israelites and the Assyrians I pictured a bunch of desert wanderers surrounded by sand.

Morocco lays on the same latitude of California, more or less, so if that experience snow even nearby Los Angeles thanks to the San Bernardino mountains it makes no surprise also Marocco knows winter with its mountains covered with it.
I also heard that Saudi Arabia tallest ranges had it in the recent past.

it also snows in Columbia, Venezuela and Papua, countries that lay on the Equator, it basically snows everywhere if a place is blessed with tall mountains.

The Swat Valley in Pakistan used to be known as a Little Switzerland with some very well-regarded ski resorts.

Back in the 60's and 70's before the Iranian revolution/Soviet invasion of Afghanistan quite a number of European tourists used to go to Afghanistan and Iran to visit historical sites and ski.
I know a Dutch guy who went back-packing from Nijmegen, on the Orient Express, through Turkey, Iran and Afghanistan twice. The second time while the Iranian revolution was actually happening.

It does snow on occassion in the Levant but it melts fast. Northern Iran gets considerable snow because of the Zagros mts.
The Atlas mts in Morrocco get snow , as well as extreme parts of South Africa, which is rare but it does happen.

"Why are you English so obsessed with the desert? We Arabs like flowing rivers and green trees. There is nothing in the desert."
King Faisal in Lawrence of Arabia

Now you see, your idea of the middle east being a giant desert is a simple byproduct of the western portrayal of Arabs lacking in verity.
