Today is the anniversary of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Sardinia (in actuality based in Piemonte) declaring the creation of the Kingdom of Italy.

February 18, 1861.

Do you think we would have been better off with the way things had been, as several different countries, like the Scandinavia or the Balkans are today, or that what happened was ultimately for the best?

Northwestern Italy (and Sardinia) was ruled by the King of Sardinia, Northeastern Italy by the Austrian Emperor.

Central Italy was split between the Estense (Modena and Reggio), Tuscany, and the Papal States

Southern Italy and Sicily were united under the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies (after 1816, before that the kingdoms of Naples and Sicily)

Forse mi sbaglio ma mi pare che la nascita del Regno d'Italia fu proclamata il 17 marzo 1861.

The Kingdom was declared 18/2 by the Sardinian parliament, and then proclaimed 17/3 by the new Italian parliament who named VE2 as king.

OK, but I still think that you are wrong. The Italian Parliament had its first meeting on the 18th of February 1861, but the law that stated the creation of Italy was not approved on that day. The birth of the Italian Kingdom has always been celebrated on the 17th of March.

Of course not, getting rid of corrupt politicians is a much better idea, a new Dux is necessary.
