View Full Version : Azeris, Turkish, Turkmen haplogroup and genetic difference ( who's more closer ? )

The haplogroup difference is quite obvious. I believe haplogroup and autosomal DNA can range from regions to regions, cities to cities, province to province.

Is strange but judging from these results, Azeri have more Autosomal similarity to Turkmen than Turkish have more haplogroup similarities with Turkmen.



T (11%), R1b (11%), R1a (7%), E (6%), I (3%), and some others (15%). Within these haplogroups, some Azeri men specifically have the haplogroups T1, E1b1b1c1 (this one originated in Anatolia), G2a3b1, and R1b1a2.

Actually, in some cases, there are differences in regions of Azerbaijan, I'm not sure if Astara (btw having a large Talysh minority) would be the best example. Ganjabasar region of Azerbaijan should be much closer to Central Asian Turkmen populations.

What do the Ganjabasar people look like?

I google and found these but I don't know if this really from that region.

Their look can vary just as all of Azerbaijani Turks but overall you would find the most "Central Asian" looking Azerbaijanis there. Anyway, such features can be found in all regions actually.
