I had a conversation with a swede and came to this idea comparing my country and his. Because many people think sweden has good economy and good living standard but its not so good. Germany has 80 million people while sweden has 8 million.

You do realize GDP has some great flaws in this case, right? Use GNI instead.

Compare Germany with Indonesia for example. You will see that Indonesia got a higher number.
This doesn't have anything with how rich the country is.

Higher unemployment or inflation? the question all economists have to ask themselves. What would you choose?

A good one to measure by stable economies. Not an indicator of most powerful mind.

Ofc both Sweden and Germany has good living standards but these two countries are incomparable in terms of economical power due to huge population difference.

Also, i believe it`s normal for a country with only 8 million population to have good living standards and high GDP per capita but what matters is to reach that standards in an 80 million populated country. Thats how a country becomes one of the economical powerhouses in the world. In that sense, Germany is one of the biggest economies in the world while Sweden will never be able to reach that status due to their low population, no matter how rich they become.

I mean, some countries like Dubai, Qatar, Brunei are much richer than Sweden but are they economical powers? Hell no.

To be an economical powerhouse, a country needs to have at least 40+ million population and have high standards at the same time. Thats how they can reach over one trillion dollars of GDP.

That's why nations like India & China look decent. High GDP & high Population.

Thats a good thing though, look at all the other former powers and what they're becoming now because of it.
