Going on from this thread (http://www.theapricity.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2969&highlight=alien+abductions), and this thread (http://www.theapricity.com/forum/showthread.php?p=82847#post82847), I was wondering what Apricians think of this world wide, culturally popular phenomenon.

*Intrigued* Please go on. Was this an alien (http://www.astro.wisc.edu/%7Etrouille/EYH/pics/435px-Alien.png)abduction, or an alien (http://e-biscuit.com/images/uploads/IllegalALIEN1.jpg) abduction?

I was speaking of aliens from the outer space.

I refuse to believe that what amount to perverted basement-dwelling beings from the deepest reaches of space are abducting ignorant rustics and kooks already prone to flights of fancy.

Also, two words: David Icke.

Administering DMT (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dimethyltryptamine) has been shown to induce the experience of encountering and/or being abducted by aliens/faeries/etc.

A good whack to the head can reduce such flights of fancy too.

I believe Alien abductions either result in a checmical reaction from close proximity to methamphetamine or demonic assult on the soul.

Abduction are figments of peoples imagination, there are no Aliens, there is no intelligent life forms, if there were it would not matter anyway, they are way too far away to make any real difference of knowing that there might be intelligent life out there....;)

For existenial, and ego-satisfying reasons, I disbelieve in any kind of sentient life except mankind. :) Who needs aliens when you've got nutjobs who can create them up out of thin air?

What's more interesting is that the requisite amount of DMT needed to start inducing odd experiences need not be consumed. It's quite possible to train your brain to, under the right circumstances, dump DMT into your system. Many of the practices that fall under the umbrella of "magick" are capable of tricking your brain into dumping chemicals normally reserved for REM sleep into your system while you're awake.

The big epistemological question, however, is this: are the entities encountered during DMT experiences a product of the chemical or does the chemical allow the mind to perceive entities that it is otherwise incapable of?

No, I think they could be imaginary or done for special, unofficial medical experiments.

I was going to say that since the X-Files etc, the amount of people claiming to have been abducted by aliens has rocketed :p
