Autria-Hungary mainly, but i guess it depends on the region.

Also Yugoslavia (Serbia) to a lesser extent.

Still, a bit strange to miss out two nations you have a lot in common with, while include many nations you had little to none contact with throughout history.


Personally I think Hungary, especially for Slavonia&Zagorie. The Pacta conventa lasted from 1102 until 1918 which is a quite a long time. Second is Austria, third is probably Italy(especially for Dalmatia).

Austria-Hungary empire existed first in 1867, Croat history started a lot earlier than that!

Croatia wouldn't have even come close to what it is now, without the help of the Austria-Hungary empire. And for that we are all thankful.

Since when is religion synonymous with ethnic inhabited lands? You can be Catholic, ________ (insert any religion) and from the Balkans.

I also think that the Croats have similarities with Albanians, especially Slavonia. What do you think, which Croatian region has the most similarities with Albanians?
