do you think i have a ashkenazi or sephardic ancestor and why i score a bit of ashkenazi jewish. im from the Balkan and there were both communities. the sephardics who escaped from spain moved into Balkans and were given refuge by Ottoman authorities into Balkans (i think so). im curious because i score in speculative view like 0.8% iberian. i dont know where that could come from if not from sephardi? i score 0.8% ashkenazi and i have 0.9-1.8 declared ashkenazi jewish on ancestry finder with US incl, 1gp, 5cm. I wonder now. Please give your opinions. Balkan Sephardi or Ashkenazi Ancestor?

I don't know how the genetics profile Ashkenazic or Sephardic, and people could be mixed I'm assuming but labeled just Ashkenaz if they come from an Ashkenazic background. I also think that if you got ambiguous Asian that could be Jewish too, not sure how/if that is delineated in your genetic results, I'd guess Sephardic or Mizrahic though, ...but... since you scored actually Ashkenazic then I'd probably take that at face value

Sure, I'd guess if you have one Jewish ancestor you might have more, too, that's why I brought up the ambiguous Asian results, if any, you could have both Ashkenazic and Sephardic ancestry, the Sephardis were all over I think, anyways it's most likely true, even scoring some Ashkenaz I'm betting it's the lower end of the actual amount. Thing is, I don't know how they figure what's Jewish what's not so I'm just guessing by what you're saying

yes there were both communities, sephardic as well as ashkenazi. but i dont know which one is my ancestor of. i wonder about the tiny fraction of spanish genetics and if it could be associated with spanish jews. or maybe the sephardi and ashkenazi mixed so i could have ancestor who was both
