The `LL` sound is really easy (I remember discussing this with Absinthe on another forum, she said that it deserved a thread of its own :)) to pronounce. Take a pack of 20 Marlboro, smoke within 20 minutes, cough a bit, drink a pint of milk (full fat), swirl it around your mouth 15 times, take another pack of 20 Marlboro, smoke them with 10 minutes and then you're ready to say it. :thumb001:

Most people in my opinion are mainly Bruenns, Paleo-Atlantids or Keltid Nordids. One can't always distinguish between other Brits, but sometimes one has an inclination to where someone may come from, even before they open their mouth :D

He's a Gwynedd man correct? And from what I know, the folk of Gwynedd were present in the Battle of Hatfield Chase, lead by Cadwallon ap Cadfan, the battle site for Hatfield Chase being within the proximity of the birthplace of my oldest recorded paternal ancestor, then the Welsh DNA matches of all things, perhaps this man be some distant cousin of yore? eh? lol. :P That is if I'm not a Brigante lol.
Actually, BD, I've been reading about the early Norman period, and immense numbers of Bretons came over, especially to Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, to share in the loot. If you do have a clear 'Welsh' indication from the genetics, it may well have come by this lengthy indirect route...

I do have a clear "Brythonic" indication, not necessarily Welsh specifically, most of my matches go back and forth between Welsh, N. English, and Scottish and a few statistic outliers of Irish origin. However, my strongest match is a Welsh line, and I fit close with the Celtic Research haplotype on ysearch.

I wonder if I'll ever know for sure if my line was Welsh invader, Breton, or from Yr Hen Ogledd. :(

Individually yes, but if you take a crowd of Northern Spaniards and compare it against a Welsh one - or any other British population - then the differences are quite striking.

It's a matter of frequency of different types, some of which are much more significant in Britain versus Iberia and vice versa.

The Welsh are in a sense the "purest" Britons, meaning their genetical make-up has been less influenced by Germanic invaders of Britain. As a whole they might be darker than other Brits, however they're still lighter than most of France and of course Spain/Portugal! Wales doesn't equal Galicia/Asturia,etc...! The Welsh are more similar to the Irish and to a lesser extent the people of western France.
