His surname suggest that he has a Vlach ancestry at some point.

Only the ones who have Vlach ancestry carries this surname in Greece and Turkey. It should be the same in Bulgaria.

Once i searched in facebook for finding karakachans in Turkey before and 100s of people showed up in the list. Ofc almost all of them was from eastern Thrace.

The phenotype of Krasimir is from the Slavic invaders, so i dont think he has much genetic input from the groups mentioned above.

Then who are they?

There was only two groups of semi-nomadic sheep herding peoples in Balkans and they were Vlachs and Turkish Yoruks. If they were not Vlachs, then they should be Yoruks, one or other. But we know that the Karakachans spoke Vlach tongue centuries ago because it`s written in the Ottoman archives.

Btw why you are using the deformed Greek version of the word while the man`s surname is the correct one? It`s Kara-kachan, not Sarakatsani. I hope you wont tell me that you believe their story that they were supposedly ancient hellenic philosophers but they transformed themselves as sheep herding nomads due to Ottoman pressure? lol :)
