I believe that we are far beyond the “risk” situation. We are clearly faced with a “breach” that is persistent and systematic.

I intend to call on the European Parliament to initiate the Article 7 procedure. And in particular I urge the European People’s Party (EPP) to support such a procedure.

Kroes says Hungary failing to resolve concerns over media freedom; implementing only “fraction” of EU recommendations

Hungary has failed to resolve concerns about media freedom as the government has implemented “only a fraction” of the recommendations to deal with the issue, according to European Union Commissioner Neelie Kroes.

“Issues of media freedom are not yet solved; only a fraction of the Council of Europe recommendations have been implemented,” Kroes said of Hungary in the text of a speech to be delivered today in Dublin. The award of a frequency to opposition radio Klubradio this month after a series of lawsuits was “welcome,” Kroes said.

Kumin threatens legal action over German cartoon that criticizes Hungary

International communications undersecretary Ferenc Kumin has dismissed as “tasteless” an animated film recently shown on children’s programming on German state-run television networks ARD and ZDF.

The cartoon, entitled “Red Card for Hungary”, explains to children that Hungary has violated EU regulations too many times and could therefore be punished by being deprived of EU subsidies.

Kumin said the content is full of lies and could stir up anti-Hungarian sentiment.

The cabinet may protest in the firmest way, even by taking legal action, he warned.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the government had repeatedly denied claims that the fourth amendment reduces the powers of the Constitutional Court.

Foreign Ministry summons Romanian ambassador over “shocking” remarks

State secretary at the Foreign Ministry Eniko Gyori on Thursday urgently summoned Romania’s ambassador Alexandru Victor Micula to her office after the Romanian prime minister said that the European Union needed more stringent control mechanisms only because of Hungary.

Gyori voiced Hungary’s resentment over Victor Ponta’s remarks, published in Romanian daily Adevarul on Tuesday, and called his words “shocking”, the ministry said in a statement sent to MTI.

Gyori also referred to a recent agreement between the foreign ministers of Hungary and Romania that leaders of the two countries would refrain from sending messages in the media and would use diplomatic channels to resolve open issues instead.

With his statement, the Romanian premier “has joined the camp of those criticising Hungary without any reason”, Gyori said.

She asked the ambassador to explain why his country had turned against Hungary in this particularly sensitive European affair, said the statement.

The state secretary asked if Romania really wanted to maintain strategic partnership with Hungary and continue cooperation in EU affairs. She added that Romania’s open stance against Hungary ran contrary to the spirit of European cooperation and the practice of Hungarian-Romanian partnership.

On behalf of the Hungarian government, the state secretary emphatically asked the Romanian side to refrain from statements that burden Hungarian-Romanian relations and make a negative impact on the Hungarian public.

Gyori noted with satisfaction, however, that Ponta had condemned a recent incident involving the burning of a Hungarian flag in a Romanian stadium.

The ambassador confirmed that Romania intended to continue cooperation with Hungary, and promised to provide further information with regard to the interview.

I still think that they are bluffing while trying to encourage the pro-EU opinion makers in Hungary for putting more pressure.

Barroso to personally oversee disputes over controversial Hungarian laws

President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso will in the future personally oversee all contested issues concerning Hungarian legislation, commissioner for employment and social inclusion Laszlo Andor told journalists in Brussels on Thursday.

Until now, controversial Hungarian issues have been dealt with by several committees, but supervision and control over those procedures have now been transferred to Barroso, he added. Barroso is aided by the apparatus of justice commissioner Viviane Reding.

News agency AFP on Thursday quoted Brussels-based sources as saying that the EC would issue its report on the fourth amendment to Hungary’s constitution in late April.

One more sad example how the EU tries to deestablish the autonomy of the member states.
Absolutly ridicolous. I think Hungary should be a role model and be the first country which makes use of
the right to exit the EU.

German state TV doubles down on criticism of Hungary, portrays Orbán as clown

German state TV channel NDR has aired a programme presenting Prime Minister Viktor Orbán as a clown who says editors from Hungarian television would have been fired if they had produced a newscast for children like the one produced by German state television last week.

That children’s cartoon used animation to explain why the EU had reprimanded Hungary over perceived failings to respect EU values.

The new broadcast implied that Orbán is intolerant of criticism.

In Budapest Foreign Ministry state secretary Gergely Prőhle said “perhaps a prime minister can not express an opinion on a children’s programme”.

It'll get to that eventually.

A commissar system that seeks total uniformization while maintaining fictitious "independent Republics" to legitimize itself.

I've heard some libertarians say that Obama's administration is like Hitler's Reich too.... Not the brightest bunch, I can tell you that.

Both the original and this "response" are f*cking retarded; but it's nice to see the democratards of both "countries" do the purse-flinging, mouth-flapping fight of freedumb. When the entire system finally crumbles and we'll resume our old alliance under proper, authoritarian governments, these clips will make for notable mementos of this dark era.

In the Monor by-election, Jobbik got 29% of the vote, while the MSzP-DK coalition got only 15% of the vote.
Fidesz won with 56% of the vote.

I think this is a promising result, because Monor is not in the North East, but Central Hungary, near Budapest.

In order words, no matter what the EU, USA is doing, it is not working. The Socialists, the Goose Thief, will be humiliated in 2014.
