Robert Floyd Kennon, Sr., known as Bob Kennon (August 21, 1902 - January 11, 1988), was the 48th governor of Louisiana, serving from 1952 to 1956. Kennon was born in rural Dubberly, Louisiana, the fifth child of Floyd Kennon and the former Annie Laura Bopp.

Lester Garfield Maddox, Sr. (September 30, 1915 – June 25, 2003) was the 75th governor of the U.S. state of Georgia from 1967 to 1971. Maddox was the second of seven children born to Dean Garfield Maddox, a steelworker in Atlanta, and his wife, the former Flonnie Castleberry.
