Support for the ruling Fidesz-Christian Democratic alliance dropped only a notch this month, but went down for the main opposition Socialists to below levels of the past ten years, a poll released by Tarki on Wednesday showed.
Among all voters, Fidesz-KDNPs support was at 24 percent, compared with 26 in February. The Socialists lost ground with their support dropping to 9 percent in this group from 12 percent in the previous month.
Support for the other parliamentary parties in the whole electorate remained virtually unchanged with radical nationalist Jobbik standing at 8 percent, small LMP at 2 percent and the Democratic Coalition (DK) at 1 percent.
The non-parliamentary Together 2014 movement led by ex-premier Gordon Bajnai stabilised its overall support at 6 percent, above the threshold of entering parliament, the poll showed.
Among those with a clear party preference, Fidesz-KDNPs support remained at 48 percent, while sank in the case of the Socialists from 22 percent to 18. Jobbik in this group stayed level at 16 percent and LMP at 3 percent, while DK gained 2 points to stand at 3 percent. Together 2014 here increased support from 9 to 11 percent.
The proportion of swing or apathetic voters at the same time increased from 46 percent to 51, Tarki said.
Tarki conducted the poll on March 14-18 on a sample of 1,000 voting age adults.
