A delegation led by Minister Delegate for Energy Constantin Nita of Romania met with officials from Hungarian oil and gas company MOL as well as the state-owned Hungarian energy group MVM on Thursday, the National Development Ministry told MTI.

Officials of the companies told Nita they were interested in cooperating in cross-border projects, and in exploration and extraction activities in Romania, the ministry's statement said.

Nita also met National Development Ministry State Secretary Pál Kovács, of Hungary in Budapest on Thursday to discuss mutual energy issues. Nita and Kovács, who is responsible for climatic and energy affairs at the National Development Ministry, agreed that completion of the proposed Nabucco-West gas pipeline transporting gas from Azerbaijan to western Europe via Hungary and Romania is in the national interest of both countries.

They will continue the consultations at a ministerial-level meeting of the Nabucco commision planned to take place in Budapest in April.
