Wow, amazing photos--and in color too!

Whenever I see pictures of the gathered crowds during the Nazi days, I am almost stunned. Without being critical, it seems very cult-like to me. However, this is surely coming from my individualistic, culturally-plural, American perspective. By this I mean, that growing up here, individualism is very much engrained and it's sort of 'natural' for me to feel at least a little skeptical of crowds that large almost acting as one. And of course, I find it hard to feel as 'one' with the rest of America given our racial/cultural pluralism. Perhaps, if I'd grown up in a more organic nation, my thoughts would be other than they are now.

I like this picture the most:

It reminds me the Estonian dance festival.

I know what you mean Allenson. There's something beautiful about such common direction depicted in Hitler's Germany, but like you I find it cult-like and a little unnerving.

Yeah, it's weird--I'm fort of awed & repulsed all at the same time.

I find old color pictures especially interesting. To see the world in the same way that people saw it 50-60 years ago. So similar and so different in the same time, when history is alive.
