Good idea, also dress to avoid looking like a 'weak white guy' which will be viewed as 'prey'. Take this guy in the video for example, wearing a polo shirt and khakis up high on the waist with a belt. Very bad idea, especially if he's just going to a ball game, dressing like that just makes you a target.

Excellent point. This is actually one reason why I enjoy shaving my head; it adds just that little edge of intimidation. Good posture and an expression that says, "yeah, I see you" will do wonders. I've also found that the conspicuous display of a weapon (one that's legal to carry in your municipality of course) can also function as quite the deterrent. Nothing says business like your hand resting gently on the hilt of the Ka-Bar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ka-Bar) you've got strapped to your belt. However, I save this "tactic" for when I've going places where I know I'll be in close proximity to hobos and druggies. Usually I find the discreteness of a good pocket knife (http://www.knivesplus.com/gerber-knives-assisted.html) clipped to my pocket to e enough.

Shaved head, tight shirt and blue jeans with steel toes is how I dress when I go out somewhere. Good posture and I always meet the eyes of people I don't trust. If I'm going out somewhere shady I usually choose to wear either my Deutschland shirt with the huge eagle on the front or my valknot shirt.

I saw this video a few years back, quite sad indeed. The truth is however, it does not matter what clothes you wear, or how tough you are. When someone Hammerfist's you in the bottom jaw like that (by suprise), it's likely your going to get dropped. The only real solution to this, is to keep your 'wits' about you. You cannot live in fear all the time, if someone wants to do this, they will hide and do it when your not looking. Only thing I can advise is to unleash 'hell' on the person, if your still standing!

I have had my fair share of 'fights' and thank GOD I have never been dropped (no matter how many of them there are). I think this is because when I was younger I used to cycle alot, which built up my foundation.

Haha people may think I'm nuts, but I live near a ghetto and faced some harassment and even had a gun pulled on me during a robbery... now, I'm always prepared for battle.

I have a kevlar slash proof sweater, and a couple kevlar arm sleeves under... also a muay thai steel jock strap, bullet proof backpack I bought from Israel, steel knuckled police gloves, steel tipped shoes, and always have a weapon on me... Ka-Bar, Kubotan, etc

These are legal to own and carry in my jurisdiction, however, using them might be a different story. But I'll deal with the consequences of my actions after I save my ass

Man jailed for punch attack on teenage girl in Plaistow

A man has been jailed for four years for knocking a 16-year-old girl unconscious in a street in east London.

Michael Ayoade, 34, of Green Gate Street, Plaistow, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm on the girl in Plaistow on 13 November.

He also admitted punching a female student unconscious in Newham.

The 16-year-old sustained bruising, cuts to her head and face, and chipped teeth when she was hit on the head near the Black Lion pub.

Ayoade was caught on CCTV staging the random assaults.

The 16-year-old victim was walking near the Black Lion pub in High Street, Plaistow, when Ayoade jogged up behind her and punched her in the head.

She fell to the ground and was left lying unconscious on the pavement.

When I lived in the city I always kept my guard up as though someone would punch me (I had been in fights in the city as well previously). I carry a kuboton pen now and always grip it in my pocket if someone suspicious gets near me. I also carry a pocket knife with an emerson wave on it.
