And its not far away to brazil which mainstream media embraces as a huge emerging power thanks to capitalism. Its only 2 thousand dollars richer than communist cuba, and its from 2012 for all the other countries while cubas are outdated if you see its 2010. So cuba is probably even richer now.

and now lets go to HDI. Cubas HDI is high, it even used to be among first world countries some years ago but its till high placed in comparison to all the other latin american countries.

people also often say that cuba is dependent on other countries and people living abroad but its all BS, they may have a trade deficit but their commercial trade brings them 9 billion dollars as you can see. They export 10 billion dollars in commercial trade which is tourism and healthcare service, since cuba has an excellent healthcare system they export this service or people visit cuba for the same reason.

I did not say numbers don't matter, but you put an excessive enfasis on them, disregarding other factors. Life isn't just about numbers. And this is being said by a Engineering masters student.

Same here. I know a married couple that loves going to Cuba because it is cheap, safe and everything else you would expect from a caribbean touristic spot, but that is only 1 side of the coin. That lifestyle is out of reach from the majority of the cuban population.

We are free to go wherever the fuck we want and buy whatever the hell we want; cubans cant. Venezuela is definitely MUCH BETTER than Cuba if you can climb the socioeconomic ladder and join the middle-class and beyond, which is easy if you are qualified and can land a good job, or be self-employed.

The only aspect(s) of Cuba that is better than Venezuela is crime and security, and maybe public education/healthcare. Private education and healthcare here is good. Money does buy happiness in a place like Venezuela, whereas in Cuba no matter how hard you work, you are always going to be in the same, depressing spot for the rest of your life because of the lack of opportunities. Otherwise, this is your only option:

To the point the number of professionals is decreasing in the island. One of my pals befriended a bellboy at his hotel in Cuba, the boy told him he wanted to study medicine but it wasn't worth to spend 5 to 10 years of his life studying when he could earn way more as a bellboy (due to the tourists tips).

There are some good things about Cuba starting with their education, it is the best in Latin America from what I have heard but there are also bad things about it for example their government, no freedom of speech there. Overall, that island is not so great, not a place I would want to move and live a life there, I would like to travel there but that is about it.
