I put it aside though since I broke the wristband.

A wristwatch reflects who you are. If I saw you wearing that I would think that you were some kind of comic book guy or a retard. A proper wristwatch on the other hand would tell me that the man in question has his life in order, he is accomplished and knows what he wants in life. A plastic watch is as far as you can come from a proper wristwatch.

When I am not wearing the Constantin watches they are kept in a Constantin Weisz watch winder.

I bought my hubs a nice watch which looked really classy and nice on him. Eventually the batteries died and he has never bothered to get them replaced. Now he wears gay-ass watches I can't stand lol. Me not happy. I don't even know where his nice watch is lol

As for me, I only wear a watch at work. Anyone in the healthcare profession has to wear them.

Think about it like this, what does a Mickey Mouse watch say about a guy? That he likes cartoons or that he's mentally 12. If a guy wears a Rolex Submariner (a standard Rolex model) it says that he's proper and has gotten somewhere in life.

Personally I wear this Casio G-shock,

It doesn't have to be expensive but it should fit the man wearing it. A Seiko 5 is a perfectly acceptable choice and you can get them at less than $60.

well google is working on a watch, samsung and microsoft due out fourth quarter this year or first quarter next year.

Apple is said to have had a watch in the works for 3 years now that will measure your health ect

So the question will be though in the end for your investment:

Apple watch or a Google Glasses

not necessarily a bad thing?

I think most people would rather get an iphone than an expensive watch because with a phone you can do many more things it is like a Swiss army knife.

I think now a better question is, what smartphone are you?

http://i.ebayimg.com/t/New-WeWood-Unisex-Date-Indian-Rosewood-CHOCOLATE-Natural-Wood-Wooden-Watch-/00/s/NjAwWDQzMQ==/$T2eC16NHJF8E9nnC6H+DBQDJo04JN!~~60_35.JPG

to me this watch looks like a serious watch that you can wear in a business setting, but also in a casual, does not raise attention unless she would be checking you out, then she can comment on it, but otherwise noone would notice it

I am going to buy a watch I am between the wooden one and the popular "pebble watch" that syncs with your phone

Nobody is impressed with what a cellphone can do because a laptop can do the same and more.

If I as a woman see you wearing a wooden watch, I will think that you're a crazy guy who is building an ark out of driftwood in your backyard.

If I see you wearing the "pebble watch" I will think that you're a trekkie.

Lovely thread..!

I can never step out of the house without a watch. I currently own: Two Casio Edifices', an Esprit, and a Citizen Eco-Drive Navihawk. I hate non-metallic bands and digital display (pure). Though two of my watches are Ani-Digi (the digital is minimal). Below is one of the watches (sorry that it is an advertisement):

http://www.watches88.com/prod_images_large/jr3034-59e-21.jpg

Currently am sourcing a Seiko Diver (Kinetic), and an Orient Rally Automatic. :) Basically, I love watches. Just that they are really difficult to get in India.

This is my Citizen divers watch. http://www.monochrome.nl/citizen-automatic-divers-watch/
That is a good diver. You ever step out, without a watch strapped on..?

EDIT:
Also own a Seiko Bell-Matic. Still runs, and the alarm too chimes when wound up and set. Amazing.

You're not a rugged man so just forget about it.

The Rolex Submariner is the benchmark that all other watches are measured against,

My suggestion is that consumers (both educated and novice) use what I call the “Rolex Submariner Test” of value. More specifically, does the $7,000 – $10,000 watch you are looking at deliver as much or more value than a Rolex Submariner watch.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/arieladams/2013/01/17/using-the-rolex-submariner-test-when-buying-watches-around-10000/

Tech gadgets (google glasses, Iphone, Ipad etc.) don't impress women they impress men. It's like a toy for grown men. It's not cool.

Mary
04-16-2013, 06:34 AM
This does not mean that you should buy a Submariner since everybody has them. The correct choice for general use is, in my opinion, a used Rolex Day Date,

http://www.luxurytyme.com/Daydate/wgddwrist1.jpg

You can get them for about $4000-$5000,

Let me put it this way, think of a watch as a piece of jewellery, it tells other people who you are. A wedding band tells people that you're married, a watch tells people what kind of person you are. If you don't have one you never grew up to be a man. That's the impression I get as a woman. I think "aha, he never grew up".

My father got an Omega speedmaster, also called the "moon clock".

It stands "the first and only watch worn on the moon" on the back of it.

Mary, what about, metallic straps vs. the leather ones..? Any views around that.

Well, metallic strap looks better on more people than leather strap does. And you get more for your money with metal.

not necessarily, my most recent watch has unique leather straps that would cost more than the average metal

Let me put it this way, think of a watch as a piece of jewellery, it tells other people who you are. A wedding band tells people that you're married, a watch tells people what kind of person you are. If you don't have one you never grew up to be a man. That's the impression I get as a woman. I think "aha, he never grew up".

If that's how you judge people, then it's your problem, I suppose.

That's how most women judge men. So it's more your problem actually.

You're wrong, fortunetly most women are far more intelligent than simply judging someone based on their watch, or how someone ties their shoes. Even it they did behave like simplistic morons it would not be the kind of women I'd want, but considering I already have what I wanted I wouldn't care anyway.

And you know this because you are a woman? Most women will think that it's "normal" for a man to have a wristwatch. If you don't then you're mentally handicapped.

It's ironic someone like you would call ANYONE mentally handicapped.
Anyway, insults stay with the person who said them, it's just shows your low character. Enjoy being miserable.

So you can't tell time?

On digital watches or cellphones it's imediate. On things like this it's not for me... i would take a bit figuring out the time:

I do not wear a watch.
I am using my mobile phone(s) to check what time it is.

Me too. I might purchase one when I'm older, but I really don't see it as something I couldn't live without. It does look good, but IMO a nuissance nevertheless.

Currently wearing a Tag Heuer Aquaracer 500M. I have a bunch of other watches, mostly Omegas and a Rolex submariner. I listed them on another thread. 90% of the time I wear my Aquaracer though, as it was a present from mom, and not as expensive as the submariner (got for graduating on high school).

I don't know how can people tell the time on those fucking watches. That's why I've always hated Swatch.

I haven't worn a watch regularly since I was 14, but I am always on time.
My dream watch is an Omega Speedmaster.
