Hungarian news agency, MTI reporting that Miklós Wass took the Hungarian citizenship oath in Las Vegas on Wednesday.

For the occasion, the speaker of the Hungarian parliament, László Kövér sent a welcome message emphasizing the symbolic importance of the event, which also honors the memory of the unfairly attacked Hungarian poet and in fact, the entire western diaspora.

"Hungary looks up to the Hungarian diaspora and considers it as an important ally" writes the chairman of the parliamentary committee.

The citizenship ceremony was attended by American Hungarian Reformed Church Bishop Sándor Szabó, and representatives of the local Hungarian community. After taking the citizenship oath, Miklós Wass also applied for the Hungarian passport.

Albert Wass died in exile in the United States on February 17, 1998.
