Kseniya Sukhinova from Russia was crowned Miss World 2008 at a glittering ceremony in South Africa.

Trindad and Tobago's Gabrielle Walcott was second runner-up and India's Parvathay Omanakuttan was first runner-up.

Sukhinova is from Siberia, studying for an engineering degree.

Sukhinova is the second Miss Russia to go on and win the event after Julia Kourochkina won in 1992.

Finalists from 109 countries were whittled down to five finalists - India, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, Angola and South Africa.

This year viewers in 180 countries were able to vote online for one of the semi-finalists.

The winner was decided by an international jury.

She`s very pretty. :) When I was a wee girl I used to love watching Miss World on tv, some years ago now they stopped showing it here though, claiming it is sexist! :rolleyes2:
All the little girls I know that watched it never saw it as such, nor felt any pressure to mould ourselves into Miss Worlds! (and let`s face it, most of us couldn`t ;) )
But we simply treated it like eye candy, adoring the dresses, makeup and glamour of it all.

I think it`s hard to tell who is true blonde and who isn`t nowadays. ;)
Also makes a change to see a nice hourglass figure (Miss Northern Ireland) instead of the athletic, straight up and down (with maybe a boob job added for interest) that you tend to get now. :)
