Phenotype Variety in Raleigh, NC, Based upon Local Mugshots

Mugshots, made publicly available by law enforcement in Raleigh, North Carolina, provide an interesting insight into the vast array of phenotype variety in that area. There are a number of things that catch my attention in some of these mugshots, and I have decided to post these photos, on an occassional basis, to this thread.
Things I am interested in discovering in this particular population:
-Particular evidence of Scotch Irish (or Celtic) ancestry
-Particular evidence of Nordic ancestry
-Native American input in both the white and black populations
-levels to which African ancestry might display itself in the white population
-anomalies, or curiosities, ranging from extreme face features to unusual mixing of (perhaps) disparate groups such as Italian and black, Chinese and black, etc.
-Particular evidence of Jewish ancestry in both white and black populations


I also would like, at some time, to reveal the local peculiarities that distinguish the more antique Anglo-Saxons of this region from the newer transplants, this latter group having inundated the Raleigh area over the past 15 years. Note: Raleigh, NC, is the 4th fastest growing city in the USA at the present time.

Yeah, it's a bad case. Anyway, his brow "shape" indicates, to me at least, a lower-level Anglo-Saxon ancestry. That is, it's entirely Anglo-Saxon, yet his heredity is very "working-class."

Yes, that's the reason I saved this picture, is because his features seem uber-Nordic despite having a brown-hair/brown-eye element.

Furthermore, I am newly interested in the "projecting mouth area" that characterizes certain Northern Europeans. I saw this feature in a pure Saami on the forum here recently and wondered if I was delving into the "paleolithic, etc., etc., realm of discussion.

These guys look way more different to the California non-Hispanic whites. They look way more Britanic than the California whites, which is expected, since the Californian whites are more German.

These guys look way more different to the California non-Hispanic whites. They look way more Britanic than the California whites, which is expected, since the Californian whites are more German.

California whites seem to be more attractive overally speaking tho.

The whites here in California are varied, however I noticed more Germans than anything. That's not to say there aren't people with descent from British Isles, or Poland, or Scandinavia. There are also some Italians, some Irish, but almost never Spaniards, French, Greeks, Russian, or Balkanic.

There aren't many Polish here, but there's some. It's mainly Anglos, Germans, and Irish, with a touch of Italians, and extremely minor inputs from other parts of Europe.

I tend to think this person is half black and half Med. Italian probably. Also, there might be a little Anglo in the background that would likely be associated with the African American ancestry.

Depends on what neighborhood you are in. I guess you could say I live in a fairly affluent suburb compared to the other places in my county, but I remember some classmate of mine in grade school ask the class who had Irish in them and nearly every white kid said they had a little Irish in them.

I live in a mixed area (near Napa), and you get the same.

Most of what is called Irish ancestry in the South is not really Irish but Scottish as in Ulster-Scots descent. If a lot of Southerners really researched their ancestry they would find that their "Irish" ancestry is in fact what is called Scots-Irish.

This seems to be quite a common mistake in the South.

I think the white folks look mainly Irish and Anglos but in an American way, you know? The "uber-Nordic" doesn't look like Nordid to me, at least not the ones living here in Nordic-countries. He's not that "gracile". He does have a long face, though. Maybe Atlantid with CM and Nordid influences.

The Whites remind me of the folk you see kicking about Newcastle. Which is the North East England.. Northumberland.

Of course there is a scruffier look to your criminal. :P

Raleigh, NC, about 20 years ago, was ranked 2nd after Virginia Beach, VA, as the city with the most "English" names in the US. The name of the city, "Raleigh," is distinctly English in its letter-arrangement.
What is first interesting is that Raleigh's population, along with North-central NC's population in general, is heavily English in ethnicity due to the migrations that came from Virginia to the north, which is a thoroughly "English ethnic area" of the US.
The second thing that is interesting is that the vast array of newcomers to this area, which is presently booming, have English last names in a strange, noticeable way. I base observation on my look at mugshots. I wonder if these people's English ancestry had anything whatsoever to do with their relocating to Raleigh. Unlikely, but perhaps a subliminal thing? Anyway, I can't help but notice these very English last names that so many of these newcomers have.

Interesting how almost ALL whites, in both samples, are blue eyed. Almost all are heavily leaning towards Anglo-Saxon (mix of ScandoNordid / Faelid / Brunn). This is a major point of difference between English of US and those left in England.

This is precisely the kind of knowledgeable feedback I was interested in reading. I, too, wonder what reason there might be for such a huge migration of light-haired, light-eyed people from Britain to America in America's early years. This is a noticeable "point of difference" indeed.
Keep in mind, that this is not a random assortment of mugshot pictures, but I pick those which seem to be noteworthy to me in one way or another.
