Here's a hockey team from Finland. I've excluded all the foreign players and all of them are ethnic Finns. Exept one. One of them is a Finland-Swede. Can you guess who? :P

Not true. For one Finland-Swedes are definitely not a homogenous group, there are those in the south, in Ostrobothnia and Åland. They all have various proportions of Finnish and Swedish ancestry. F.ex. my half south Finland-Swedish paternal grandmother's DNA results are consistent with being about 1/4 Finnish, meaning her Finland-Swedish side is roughly half Swedish - half Finnish.

Let's not forget, that some of them can also have Saami-ancestry.

It doesn't work that way. Swedish speakers can have Finnish names and Swedish names are common among Finnish speakers. As far as I know, he doesn't even speak Swedish. Edelmann isn't a Swedish name, but German.

It's a near-impossible question. Most of the finlandssvenskar in the West and South have their mono-linguistic communities (like Korsnäs or Närpes where they in fact speak archaic Swedish) but they can not be picked out from a crowd so easily, especially if atypical like the guy revealed. In the late 19th century even Helsinki (from Hälsingland) was fully Swedish speaking but that changed, as it did elsewhere. Finland went from >20% Swedish spekaing to <5% today. Genetically they do not vary greatly from mainland Finland except in small communities that cluster with Sweden which kept their identity completely.

Yes, it's very complicated. Even I was fooled, because I was told that the guy in question isn't even a Finland-Swede after all. He has latinized name, Niclas Lucenius, so I assumed he's a Finlandssvensk. Stupid me.
