View Full Version : Mesolithic and Neolithic European mtDNA Haplogroups

The new mtDNA haplogroup H results form the Bell Beaker remains has got me thinking about which of the main mtDNA haplogroups in Europe today arrived during the Neolithic with the early farmers originating in the Near East and which haplogroups were present during the previous Upper Paleolithic and Mesolithic. Here is what I think may be the case below.

Mesolithic: U2, U4, U5, U8 and maybe some H

Neolithic: J, K, T and some H
