This thread is mainly meant for Bosniaks, but I see no harm in others joining the fun :)

The generic Slavic tricolor:

Or flag with national colors of Bosniaks:

But let's wait and see the votes of Bosniaks :)

P.S.: Why did you vote as a Bosniak?

Wrong. Bosnia is historically a Christian area. Islam has only been around since the Ottomans marched in. And thus the other Bosnian flags have more legitimacy since they use the Bosnian crest.. while yours uses the Islamic/Ottoman crescent.

It was the national flag from 1992 to 1998 but it had to be changed because two of the constitutive people (Serbs and Cros) felt it only represented one side (Bosniaks).

But it still has sentimental value to Bosnians, we consider it our true flag.

Would it not be possible to make a separation between the Bosnian Serbian and Bosnian Croat and the Bosnian parts ? And to either use this flag as the Bosnian ethnic flag or, in the case of the possibility of the Serbs and Croats joining Serbia and Croatia to make it the new national flag ? Well if that were to happen (Croats and Serbs splitting up) then I don't see why the ljiljani couldn't be the flag of Bosnia. But that whole scenario will tbh for most Bosniaks seem unacceptable, for the reason that many still have houses, memories (mostly bad ones now) in and from the places that would want to separate.

You're the invader around these part. You know the thing with the other Bosnians is: they are European and civilised human beings (despite of their religion). While you should just get a camel and move to Saudi before you make other Europeans think that Bosnians are all Al Qaeda members and you would get people to actually consider Bosnia as dangerous and in need of an invasion (which could happen in these insane and dangerous times).

the fleur-de-lys, as emblem (as opposed to heraldic charge) appears on coins and seals from the 10th c. at least. Typically, it forms the end of a scepter, or decorates the rim of a crown, or is held, over-sized, by the king along with a scepter. So there is, by the 11th-12th c., a strong association with royal sovereignty. In fact, coins of the Emperor Frederic I show him holding such a scepter. Moreover, supposing that it was already called a fleur-de-lys at the time, the lilly flower had strong religious connotations, especially with the Virgin Mary, and later (in the 14th c.) with the Trinity.

Actually, I almost never explain to people about Bosniaks except for threads where you literally lie about how we feel about things. Take this thread for instance: in a thread about Bosnian flags you say that we don't consider ljiljani our flag because it is Christian. I mean, the ljiljani had to be changed in Bosnia because it was too associated with Bosniaks and you say we dont like it and prefer that green one

So you're the one who is telling lies, I'm just correcting you.

Dw, when he writes in Bosnian on the forum he admits that Bosniaks don't really share his views. Of course, he says that's because we're all "plavuse" (blondes), meaning stupid compared to him.

You are fighting the wrong battle, dado. If most Bosniaks (who are muslims at least nominally) don't mind the "Christian" symbol, why do you? Nobody is imposing the ljiljani on us, on the contrary it has been forcefully taken away and people still hold onto them.

Because I dont care what origin it has, and you do. So it's your job to "inform" our "poor mislead people" about its origins.

I propose you start a campaign, beginning on facebook: the ljiljani are Christian, let's kick it from our stadiums :D

No. They didn't reject it because it didnt represent them, the varta flag doesn't represent them either but they haven't demanded for it to be taken away. They rejected because they felt it represented only one people.

I wonder why they dont feel as strongly against the varta flag :)

Current flag is shit. 1995-98 flag was okay but needed some red and blue (preferably in stripes) and the flag with 'traditional' colours is not traditional. It's completely made up using colours to disassociate themselves from their neighbours who use the red-white-blue combination.

Hell no. This current flag isn`t perfect but at least it stands out, as did
the previous flag. Blue, yellow and white are the royal colors anyway, and
not something anyone made up to disassociate with neighbors.
