Jablanica is the capital of the eponymous municipality in northern Herzegovina, located in the northern part of the upper or high-Herzegovina. Administratively belongs to the municipality of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton. The city lies at the Jablanica emerald-green Neretva river.

Jablanica Municipality falls with its 301 km ² and 13,047 inhabitants in order smallest municipalities in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Geographic region of the upper or high-Herzegovina, and administrative 8 municipalities of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton. Wedged between each of the two highest mountains in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Cvrsnica Prenja, with its beautiful valley opens litičasti canyon more than 30 kilometers. The town itself is situated on several terraces at an altitude of 202 meters, through which flows the river Neretva.

The climate is moderate with an average annual temperature of 12 ° C and a large amount of rainfall. Because of its position Jablanica has since ancient times been an area of interest for housing and residence.

The earliest excavations indicate that this area was settled in the metal age, although it is true flourished in Roman times and the Middle Ages, which is discussed in 42 locations with 683 cemeteries with tombstones and cairns. Most of the monuments of material culture comes from the end of II. and the start of the first millennium BC, and tombstones are mostly from the late Middle Ages. Through this end they passed the only caravan routes from Dubrovnik to central Bosnia, and roads in the Vrbas valley. The provisions of the Bosnian king Stjepan Tomas issued 1446th in Konjic, where mahinejcima-bogomils prohibits the construction and renovation of the church. Among the signatories are mentioned Petar Pavlovic and Radivoj Jablanović, by whom, perhaps Jablanica named.

Three if you count the ones of my aunt and sister :)

Mine (or my dad's to be precise) isn't exactly "by" the lake, but the trip to that marvelous pond is an experience onto itself. :lol:

There are no mountains in Bosnia, you silly, it's a pyramid.

Trees can't grow on pyramids.

It's Herzegovina, the soil is kinda shit below Jablanica/Konjic area and outside Neretva region.

Well 41 degrees Celsius,I do not find that town such a great place to live,but anyway,seems that during night,even in a day when are 40 degrees,the temperature will drop a lot.
I have seen there is a large river near also more than 60% of the surface of the town have forests,so nice town,I must say.
