Hungary is performing better than most European Union member states in the area of employment, according to governing Fidesz.

The number of employed in Hungary has risen continuously for three years, the minimum wage has been raised three times, the tax burden for families and for employers has been reduced, and cuts in household utilities prices have made earning a living easier, Fidesz spokeswoman Gabriella Selmeczi said at a press conference on Wednesday, on International Workers’ Day.

Compared to the first quarter of last year, 26,000 more people are working, and 160,000 more have jobs than during the previous government, she said. While the number of employed has grown in Hungary over the past three years, the unemployment rate in other EU member states has risen as high as 26-27 percent, she added.

The minimum wage in Hungary has been raised from 63,000 forints (EUR 210) per month to 93,000 forints (EUR 310), the personal income tax rate has been capped at 16 percent, 900,000 families with children now enjoy tax preferences, a workplace protection plan has been launched, and corporate profit tax has been halved from 19 percent.

Selmeczi said the left — citing the politicians Ferenc Gyurcsany, Gordon Bajnai and Attila Mesterhazy — had “stabbed workers in the back” with their extreme economic policy. Under the left, unemployment doubled and working people spent half their paychecks on taxes and the other half on utilities bills, she said. They left young people and teachers to fend for themselves, allowed foreign companies to take profit generated in Hungary out of the country, and watched undisturbed as people fell into the trap of foreign currency-denominated loans, she added.

That's a real shame. What's even more troublesome is that they'd lie so grossly.

What are the major sources of employment in Hungary?

The European left (apart from the far left) hasn't been left-wing for over a generation.

O.O!
And some people still tell me the European Union stands for progress and development.

At least you're lucky enough to not have the Euro...

There is a silver lining to everything, if the Socialists did not mess up the economy then we would have been on the Euro right now..
