Photos taken on a sunny afternoon. Colour is a bit darker in the shade. Are they dark green or hazel?

Green with a whiff of brown or a darker shade of green. I usually refer to these eyes as Hazel.

You have beautiful eyes, btw. :)

Thank you for the reply, Arbėrori, and the compliment. :)
I would call them hazel as well, especially because the colour changes depending on light, what I'm wearing and sometimes even my mood, I suppose. Don't know what else would influence this sometimes such an obvious change in colour even under the same light, but the mood.
I've read that colour mixes of green, grey, yellow and light brown are all classified under ''hazel''.
Would you call these hazel as well?

Technically hazel, although obviously leaning towards the lighter (green) spectre. I suppose most people will just refer to them as green.

there is no pure green eyes, because green eye, like hazel as well is a mix of blue and brown eye gene, and depending on influence they can be hazel or green.

You have green eyes, they are defiantly not hazel

I have trouble seeing green in this particular photo when looking up-close. I see grey and yellow. When I look from afar, then I see the green. I bet I would see either green or hazel depending on the light if I got to see this person in person. :)

Thank you for your reply, Duke. It is very interesting. Could you tell me if there is a webpage where I could find out more about eye colour or tell me where did you read that there are no pure green eyes? So far I haven't really found anything online that completely answered my questions. What people usually refer to as the ''perfect'' green eyes is where I mostly see the blue predominance --- that's why your reply is very interesting to me. In my eyes I can't see any blue or grey, just this dark green that turns bright green under light or when my eyes get watery, plus light brown around the pupil of course.
Thank you!

I'd say: beautiful eyes.

Perfect green eyes could happen but its probably very slim random chance.

Think of brown as dark yellow, then it comes to simple colour mixing, blue+yellow=green

Blue eye gene is recesive, and because of that it can exist with brown eye gene which is dominant, so basically all people who have hazel, and green eyes posses both genes in active state.

Green eyes, when looked from very up close will show they they are mixed, they just appear green

Duke, thank you for the explanation. :) Some things still bother me, but I better revise my genetics knowledge before asking more questions :)
