Romanian employees rank among last in the European Union on the number of mandatory days off work, according to a recent study by Mercer Marsh Benefits. Romanians have 29 free days by law a year, which include the minimum days of paid holidays and the legal days off on major holidays. This places Romania second to last in the ranking, and on a par with Germany and Ireland.
First ranks Lithuania, with 42 days off, and then comes Estonia, with 40 days off. The fewest days off a year is in the Netherlands, 28. The EU average is of 33 days off work by law.
Romanians recently returned from their mini Easter holiday, which also included May 1 this year, which is also a free day by law in Romania.
