BELGRADE – The Constitutional Court of Serbia has formed a case related to initiatives of the Serbian Radical Party (SRS) and the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) to assess the constitutionality and legality of the recently reached Brussels agreement and the Serbian parliament and government’s decisions concerning the deal, Tanjug has learnt at the Court on Monday.

On the occasion of the initiative and proposal, the Constitutional Court has formed the case and appointed a reporting judge and an expert assistant.

On May 7, the SRS filed a request for the Court to look into the constitutionality of the April 26 decision of the Serbian parliament to accept a report on the current process of the EU-brokered political and technical dialogue with interim institutions of Pristina, including the process of implementation of the reached agreements, the Court released in a statement.

The next day the Court received a request to assess the constitutionality and legality of the first initialed agreement on the principles that regulate normalization of relations between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the government of the self-proclaimed state of Kosovo Albanians, the statement reads.

This request was submitted by 21 MPs from the DSS ticket, two independents, and one each from the Serbian Progressive Party and the People’s Peasant Party.
