View Full Version : Who's the most neutral, "pan-European" looking group of Europeans?

Which group of Europeans has the most people who can pass in the largest geographical range in Europe? That is, who are the most neutral, pan-European looking Europeans?

Is there any group where people can regularly look such that they can pass in most of Europe without raising an eye?

Iberians.

Iberians.

I would hesitate to pick Iberians simply that Eastern European phenotypes do not occur with them frequently enough.

I'd be inclined to pick Austrians or northern Italians as my choice. I've seen people from those places who either could fit in any part of Europe with ease, or I've seen a surprising range of European types present there.

I agree, we have almost any types here.

I voted France, even though they never get as Nordish as the British, so maybe I should have picked Britain.

However, France has many very Med looking individuals, many mixed central ones, and some partly nordish ones in regions like Alsace-Lorraine. Mostly, they are central-Euro though. Overall, they represent a wide spectrum of European phenotypes in a more complete way than the British.

The British have many Atlantids and several pan-European/central-Euro-ish types, but overall they are way more Nordish than the French, which is why I voted for the latter.

France covers almost all phenotypes, so it's them.

I did not voted, cause I consider those to be Sami people.
So this option was not included.
This is discrimination!

Also in France lots of people have foreign origins, which adds to their pan-europeanism.

There are no eastern european types.

There was a lot of Polish immigration in the mid XXth Century.
Not common to see them but not that rare either.

Austrians + French in second place. I know not so little French people who can pass here.

France is too western, few Frenchmen would fit in Balkan or Bulgaria. North Italy is too south-central, the few nordish looking are mostly sub-nordics and they wouldn't fit that well in Scandinavia same with the dinarid phenotype.

So I would say Czech republic without any doubt. They're central, not that eastern looking at all and I would say they are inbetween south and north when it comes to % light hair and light eyes.
Germany is a candidate aswell.

i think some of you are confusing pan-european with variety. Pan-european means that they can pass anywhere, not that different individuals can pass in different countries all over europe.

Essentially, who is the most neutral looking on average, like the OP stated.

French and Czechs come closest to this definition although for different reasons.
France has great numbers of people fitting in Northwestern Europe but the same can be said about those passing well in the South (both Southwestern and Southeastern parts of the continent).
Czechs seem intermediate between Northwestern and Northeastern Europe.

Maybe for western Europe, French are the most fitting and for Eastern Europe it is Czechs?

Austrians look primarly Germanic and would stand out among the Typical Western/Atlantid looks in places like France, Uk or Ireland.

French or Germans.

Germans (as a whole) are a half Way between Central and Northern Europeans... Most Germans pass well in NEtherlands, Scandinavia, Baltic countries, Czech, Western Poland, and some in Hungary, and even Russia/Belarus at times (although probably with common ancestors back then).. I dont see Germans generally looking like people in the Mediterranean Europe (Spain, Italy, France, Greece) or like in Atlantic Europe (UK, Ireland, Western/NOrthern France, NW Iberia.

French lack of types that pass in Scandinavia and East Europe, they are very western european.

Thats why even some Americans with some German Heritage look very different from Germans at home, because they are Heavily mixed with many ethnicities that have very un-german phenotypes, such as Italians, French, Irish, Scottish, English, etc

Maybe for western Europe, French are the most fitting and for Eastern Europe it is Czechs?

France is a large nations, it should be restricted to the North East quadrant of France. Southern France is too south European and Western France is to Atlantid.
