One of the remarkable findings: once more among the two closest Indian populations the Kashmiri Pandits emerge (together with Punjabis)!
The Kashmiri Pandits are Brahmins bytheway.
So once again a central question rises:
Were the ancestors of the Roma belonging to a high or a low caste?
These two genome-wide studies propose a probable high caste scenario (maybe with some low caste admixture during the Out-of-India migration).

gypsies most likely originated from another gypsy clan in India, such as banjaras

there is no other "gypsy clan" gypsies are only roma. because roma are the ethnic group which were named egiptians or gypsies by the europeans, and thought to come from egypt. later other peoples all over the world got the name "gypsies" especially in india who had superficial similarities to gypsies like being wandering outcastes or on fringe of society etc. superficial similarities like being roaming outcasts doesnt make one descend from another. thats too simple thinking. also roma history is unique, way different then any tribe in india who never left their homeland and was not in the same way persecuted and put on the fringe. by now it is proven that roma are from punjab, northwest india and match on their ydna domba people, the scheduled caste people of punjab. and autosomally their southasian genes are closest to kashmiri pandits and punjabi. they are probably not from rajasthan, or anywhere else. also former mtdna studies found that their mtdna is from punjab and clusters closest to northwest india/punjab.

I think this can be explained because they originated in the North-West region of India.
