Bosnia prosecutors on Wednesday indicted 12 people, including two Turkish nationals, of being part of an international criminal network trafficking Turkish immigrants towards the European Union.

The network, dismantled in late 2012, was organized by Savas Ereren, a 38-year-old Turkish citizen who Bosnia had already convicted of human trafficking in 2008, prosecutors said in a statement.

Members of the group are charged with trafficking at least 46 people to Slovenia and other EU countries between July and December 2012.

The immigrants paid at least 3,500 euros ($4,500) each for the trip, the statement said.

Bosnia lies on the so-called Balkans route, often used by criminals to traffic drugs, weapons and people to western Europe.
