It is the custom to fly Danish flags :smilie_flagge14: outside a house, hoist the big Dannebrog flag (even set up flags along the road - mostly seen in the countryside) to show that someone who lives near is having a birthday.
Another custom is to greet the child good morning with breakfast in bed and place presents around the child’s bed while they are sleeping so they will see them first thing upon awakening.
And of course the cake with candles etc.

How do you celebrate birthdays in your country?

Just the cake and candles (usually one candle for every year until one reaches adolescence) and a small celebration with the family and friends. In some circles it has become popular (mainly under teenagers) to invite every single friend over for a bigger party.

Oh, we have the flag waving thing aswell. We usually cook alot of food, cake and etc. Before that, we gather at a relatives or a friends home and celebrate, then we usually go to a club or something.
