The Local.de (http://www.thelocal.de/national/20081216-16161.html): Thousands of Brandenburg residents could come under suspicion for being neo-Nazis or right-wing sympathisers because of the letter and number combinations on their licence plates.

In the struggle against right-wing extremism, the Brandenburg Constitutional Protection Authority has warned of several licence plate letter and number combinations that extremists use to identify themselves to the public. “These also serve as identifying marks among the like-minded,” the authority reports in their brochure and internet article “False Identification—Critical Combinations on Motor Vehicle Codes.”

The authority warns of licence plate codes that indicate an “anti-democratic mindset.” Examples of telling letter combinations include “HJ” (Hitler youth),” NS” (National Socialism) and “KZ” (concentration camp).

Number combinations that have recently been identified include “18,” which represents the first and eighth letters of the alphabet, or “AH” for Adolf Hitler), “88” stands for “HH,” or “Heil Hitler,” and the number “14,” which alludes to a fourteen-word (German) slogan uttered by an American neo-Nazi leader: “We must secure the future for our people and the future of our white children.”

Thousands of Brandenburg residents bearing these combinations could now be suspected of extreme right-wing affiliations (!!), though in some cases the combinations may be accidental. The cars of supposed right-wing extremists can be subject to attacks, daily newspaper Die Welt reported on Monday. Someone destroyed a neo-Nazi car in Königs Wusterhausen this October, the paper said.

The German Federal Ministry of Transport recommended in 2000 that German states refrain from using combinations that allude to former National Socialist associations or institutions, such as “SA,” “HJ,” “SS,” “KZ,” and “NS.” The German government is now recommending auto registration offices stop assigning combinations that “refer to controversial organisations and parties” too.

The Brandenburg Intelligence Service indicated that not every driver with “critical codes “is necessarily a right-wing extremist or sympathiser: “Frequently there are people who want to use their initials or birthdays on their motor vehicle codes, a speaker from the Brandenburg Intelligence Service said.:rolleyes2::rolleyes2:....

The politically correct way of sayin' things would be like

***

"a farmer owns 88 acres of land"

"an agriculturally-oriented worker is associated with 44x2 acres of land".

***

"My grandmother had 14 children"

"my grandparent of female gender had given birth to 13+1 children"

***

And if your name is, say, Adam Harrods, you should now be referred to as ..dam ...arrods.

It must be very frustrating to be 14, 18, 28 or 88 years old. It's a neo-Nazi age you have to get past to be at peace with yourself. :rolleyes2:

If your name is Nigel Stanton and you happen to be 28 years of age, you might as well go to Germany and stand trial for Holocaust Denial. :rotfl

I know a person with the license plate 88-HH-xx (don't know the last two letters). But well, he doesn't know these 'codes'.

This was especially bad in 2002 when everyone born in 1988 was 14 years old: many of them made screen names with '1488' in them. No doubt many of these people were baffled as to why they were frequently addressed with "88! Heil! RAHOWA!!" upon joining a computer games, chat rooms, and discussion boards.

Yeah, because if we all start getting number plates with 14 in them the world will be ours! The Brandenburg Constitutional Protection Authority gives new meaning to the word stupidity.
