yes, you're right, he was from Abruzzo, I just checked. For some reason I always assumed he was Sicillian.

He doesn't look quite Sicilian to me although he would pass. I'd have guessed Campanian.

Most Italian Americans I know are not Sicilian. Sicilian surnames are actually not as common as expected and neither Calabrese. I expect most Italian Americans are actually Campanian and Abruzzese.

It depends what area they are from. Most are Southerners and at the time of immigration, the area from Naples south was referred to as "Sicily", therefore you get a lot of Italian-Americans, hearing this from their grandparents that they are Sicilian.

About 80% of Italian-Americans are from Calabria, Sicily, Abruzzo, and Campania. About half of all Calabrian diasporans went to the U.S.
