I am - being an Afrikaner. Left South Africa 13 years ago. Would be interesting to see how my future kids would deal with being a naturalized diasporan (my made-up word that doesn't exist in the dictionary :confused: ).

My family has been in South Africa since 1666 (paternal records). Although being primarily of Dutch descent, Afrikaners have also taken in quite a lot of English blood - something they don't always realise - or want to accept. I have found this out via genetic results and also researching genealogy. So in that sense, I have returned to the land of my ancestors.

300 years ago, my ancestors were also a diaspora when they went to Africa. So for me this is a return. Weird ...

Being a Mexican I don't have such privilege, tho, I feel a strong attachment with the American continet (especially North-America.) That doesn't mean I wouldn't like to travel or visit to the countries of my forebears, sure, that'd be great, but moving to another country is not on my 'to-do' list. Perhaps maybe the US, but it wouldn't be permanent. I have everthing I long for here; If I want forest, I just have to drive an hour from home, and I get this sort of landscapes:

If i'm feeling a bit more tropical, I drive an hour an a half southwest from where I live and I get this:

So basically i'm very happy where I am now. :)
