Me and my Canadian uncle are planning a winter trip to Iceland; I always wanted to travel the far north, and there are several things I would like to know, if fellow Icelanders would be kind to answer:

1) First of all, how do Icelanders look? As far as I know, the first Icelanders were mixed Nordic-Celtic; which is more dominant on the Icelandic look?

2) What do you eat? I know mutton is the most common land animal meat, and fish are common too, but what else? Do Icelanders still eat whale meat? Do Icelanders eat Pork (which isn't an issue for me despite beeing Jewish)? Are the any fruit-giving trees in Iceland to harvest? What kind of trees are common in Iceland? What vegetables are availabe to eat?

3) How is weather in Iceland? How long is the snowy season? As far as I know, Iceland isn't very cold for such a norhern location, and summers are cool and rainy-is that true?

4) What wild aniamls are common in Iceland? DoI have a chane to see a bowhead whale? Are there any rabbits/hares in Iceland?

You've come to the right place! Last year, I visited Iceland on holidays :)

1) First of all, how do Icelanders look? As far as I know, the first Icelanders were mixed Nordic-Celtic; which is more dominant on the Icelandic look?

Yeah, they look like what the child of a Brit and Scandinavian would look like. Nothing really more dominant.

1) Restaurants, cafes etc
2) The whaling lobby and anti-whaling lobby are having a fight there, but eating whale isn't mainstream
3) They have all the foods you need, and import many. Don't worry
4) They don't have that many trees, and the trees that they do have are very small.

3) How is weather in Iceland? How long is the snowy season? As far as I know, Iceland isn't very cold for such a norhern location, and summers are cool and rainy-is that true?

Due to winds and warm breezes, Iceland is usually about 0-15 degrees celsius. It doesn't go that much under it.

4) What wild aniamls are common in Iceland? DoI have a chane to see a bowhead whale? Are there any rabbits/hares in Iceland?

Don't remember, sorry!

Anyway, it was a fantastic trip that I had there. I definitely recommend you giving it a visit!
