View Full Version : Is mtDNA U1a3 uncommon in Europe?

This seem to be more of middle eastern, Assyrian, but its found in Sicily Tuscan and Albania balkans and turkey..
How old is it and how it got into Europe?
Anyone knows more about this and it's presence in south east Europe?
Enlighten us please.

I'm not sure how they're telling whats Neolithic and whats modern, good question.

Must be Neolithic.

I have a U1a1 on my list on 23andme (a Sicilian with maternal line from Palermo) which is close but not quite the same as U1a3. I am not sharing with any U1a3's though.

I am not sharing with any U1a3's though.i was talking to someone who's cousin had mtDNAU1a3 and eccording to him his great grandmother was born near Palermo in one of the four arbereshe villages there.
