Call to cease construction of Budak Church

We deeply regret reported resumption of construction of the Budak church, in Srebrenica municipality, this morning. This church’s location far from a sizable human settlement and so close to a former mass grave and the Srebrenica Genocide Memorial is one designed to provoke rather than to serve the legitimate needs of the faithful. The Srebrenica municipality has offered parcels of land on which the church could be built which are much closer to the Orthodox community of Dugo Polje.
We reaffirm our support for the freedom of religion and worship of believers of all faiths in BiH. This needs to be balanced with the legitimate rights of others, in this case, the right of those whose families are buried at Potocari to visit the memorial center in peace and bury their dead in dignity.
We urge the RS government and church authorities to cease construction and to engage in talks with the municipality on a more suitable location which respects the memories of genocide victims and truly serves believers. Senseless provocations do nothing to contribute to reconciliation in BiH and calmer heads and more constructive approaches are needed.

So basically Serbs are currently building Church near the Srebrenica Genocide Memorial and I'm glead that Americans see the obviously, only purpose of the Church is to provoke Bosniaks.
