Stockholm - Several cars and other vehicles were torched, while homemade explosives and stones were thrown at police in overnight clashes with youths Friday in the Swedish city of Malmö.

There were no injuries and some 20 people were briefly detained.

The troubles were described as the worst in protests linked to the recent closure of a basement used as a mosque in the Rosengard district. Most of the population in the district are immigrants.

The protests became violent after police on Monday evicted youths who for three weeks had occupied the basement, which also was being used as an Islamic centre.

Some protesters briefly apprehended earlier this week were described as anarchists and there were also reports that football hooligans were involved in some clashes.

The city of Malmö has some 270,000 inhabitants of which about 21,000 live in Rosengard. City officials estimate that some 50 languages are spoken in Rosengard, reflecting its multi-ethnic composition.

Earlier this year, emergency services demanded police escort before responding to fires or other accidents in parts of Rosengard after firefighters and vehicles were attacked by stones and fireworks.

Police prepare for renewed rioting

Riot police from Stockholm and Gothenburg are being sent to provide back-up for their colleagues in Malmö as tensions in the southern city continue to flare.

After two nights of intensive rioting, police in the city requested assistance from units specially trained to deal with mass violent demonstrations.

"We don't think it's over yet. We think it's going to continue and we have to be prepared to work around the clock," said regional police spokesman Charley Nilsson.

Emotions have been running high in Malmö's predominantly immigrant Rosengård district since police forcibly removed three squatters from the basement offices of an Islamic cultural centre. The premises had been occupied since November 24th as part of a protest against the landlord’s decision not to renew the association’s lease for the space, which it had held for the past fifteen years.

Thursday night saw the most extreme rioting in Rosengård since the disturbances began. Police were pelted with Molotov cocktails and bomb threats were issued against a local petrol station.

Police spokeswoman Ewa-Gun Westford said she would not even hazard a guess as to how many police vehicles were damaged in the rioting, as locals were reportedly joined by left-wing extremists, or "autonomists", from outside the area.

The city's fire and rescue services have been refusing to enter the area until their safety can be guaranteed.

One person was arrested for rioting, while another was detained for disturbing the peace.

By 3am on Friday the situation had stabilized somewhat and police were able to move in and remove burning trailers and other objects from the streets with the aid of a bulldozer.

Rioting breaks out in Malmö suburb (http://www.thelocal.se/16458/20081219/)

Scores of young people rioted on Thursday night in Rosengård (http://www.thelocal.se/tag/Roseng%E5rd), the Malmö suburb in which tensions have been running high since the recent closure of an Islamic cultural centre.

Some 100 youths ran amok for the second straight night, setting cars and garbage bins ablaze and throwing stones at police, police said.

"We've had a very difficult evening. There have been fires burning since this afternoon in garbage bins and cars, there's extensive damage to public property, and there's been stonethrowing and bomb threats against police," police spokeswoman Ewa-Gun Westford told AFP.

One person was arrested during the riots, she said.

Westford said the troubles were linked to the recent closure of an Islamic cultural centre in Malmö's heavily-immigrant populated neighbourhood Rosengård.

The owner of the building wanted to use the space for other purposes, and the Islamic centre, which housed a mosque among other things, moved out and handed over the keys.

But a group of young people squatted the office space on November 24th, and police intervened early this week to remove the occupants and empty the offices.

Police guarded the location until Wednesday, and once they left youths tried to occupy the building again.

Riots broke out on Wednesday night, when youths set fires in the area and threw stones and bottles at police. Seventeen youths were detained during those clashes.

"The origin of the riots is the occupation of the building. But that's not really the reason now, now other troublemakers have just joined in, taking advantage of the situation," Westford said.

The basement offices, which had previously served as a mosque for the Islamiska kulturföreningen (‘Islamic Cultural Association’), had been occupied since November 24th to protest against the landlord’s decision not to renew the association’s lease for the space, which it had held for the past 15 years.

If I were Swedish, I'd rejoice in such news. Who cares about a little chaos and destruction when the acts themselves are advancing our agenda? I wouldn't even care if people were dying. What truly matters now is the turning of the masses against immigration, against leftist egalitarianism and against the poisonous Europeon Union.

Remember... there is no victory without sacrifice. So smile instead, my friends, and hope that this escalates to a level that will leave its mark in the hearts of your people.

I would smile and reyoice, haven't it been for my knowledge about sweds(no pun intended). Their politrixians are weaklings, as here in Norway, we need a war!

Of course they are. There is no dispute about what interests mainstream politicians - of almost all sides - serve. But if the masses see what's going on, especially if their property, or even their lives are being threatened or damaged, then, and only then is a hope for true positive change.

When my country toppled its Soviet regime and ousted its traitors and oppressors in 1956, even the opposition politicians cowered and called for a standdown. But the people had enough, and they took the fate of their nation into their own hands.

For that, a decade of the worst terror and exploitation was necessery, the death-torture of a nation that wanted to live. If modern Western politicians succeed in quietly and peacefully replacing the naíve, European populations to various immigrants, then there will be no more nations wanting to live.

But we need to time well. Rioting is meaningless, we truly need another Great Depression, or a race war as you said, while we're still the majority. As Szálasi used to say, "Where chaos is the law, order-maker is the rebel."
