A young man hurled an egg at Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski during the latter's current visit to Lutsk, Ukraine, on Saturday, Ukrainian media said.
Polish television channel TVN 24 said "there was an attempt to throw an egg" at Komorowski "after the president left the cathedral where he had attended holy mass in memory of Ukrainian Insurgent Army victims."
Polish media said the man who tried to hurl the egg at Komorowski was carrying a rucksack with "Freedom" written on it and that he was detained However, Ukrainian media said the egg did fly at the president and soiled his jacket.
The Volhynian regional police authority told Interfax that after mass Komorowski went over to a group of congregation members to talk to them and that his security guards didn't object.
The police said that among those who approached the president was a 21-year-old man from Ukraine's Zaporizhzhya region who crushed an egg against the Polish leader's shoulder.
The man was detained and was having his blood tested for alcohol.
