Great movie, but I still like Predator a little better.
Jesse Ventura had one of my favorite lines in it:

Arnie can't act to save his life, but the films he stars in with little to no lines are usually his best. Case in point being Conan the Barbarian.

Finest film ever made. :coffee:
Commando is a movie that is very, very underrated. I pretty much laughed during the entire movie when I last watched it. I plan to watch it again soon since I got a version that has some deleted scenes. :D

There is now a director's cut of that?

I bought at work (i.e. Suckmart) for an entire $7.50.

Indeed. Unless you're a reader of Robert E. Howard's, in which case it's a comedic tragedy (and not in the genric sense). :D
Howard is very enjoyable.

Get to da choppa!!
If it bleeds we can kill it.

Who doesn't like at least one Arnie movie? :D I also really like Total Recall, The Running Man, and the original Terminator.
I've got a soft spot for Kindergarten Cop as well! :o
You guys know nothing! The best scene in Commando is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inTRblYTevk FARK YOU, ARSEHOOOL
The best part of that scene is when Arnie says Ah eat green berets for brekfaast and now am very haangry!

Imo Total Recall was one of his best films. The director was a cool Dutch guy called Paul Verhoeven who also made Basic Instinct, Robocop and Starship Troopers to name a few. I think the story was based on a Philip K Dick book (great SF writer).
James Cameron's original Terminator was fantastic, the follow ups were all lame imo.
Predator.... classic. "Shtick Around!" "this stuff will turn you into a sexual tyrannosaurus" lol :D
Conan The Barbarian, as was said.... great exactly because "good acting" was not a criteria here :D

Yep, don't like it at all. I know, most people love it and disagree with me.
I think what turned me off is that the studio took a good original concept (cold killer machine, dystopian future) and then made the machine "human friendly" in order to sell Arnold to the public. Successful Hollywood film stars (almost) always have to be the "good" guys so in order to boost the franchise with the popcorn brigade they perverted the plot and brought him back as being on the human team.
Once this touchy feely stuff kicked off that was it, as far as I was concerned. No amount of special FX, film tricks, car chases or explosions can make up for a gay storyline.
*EDIT: And that kid annoyed the **** out of me.
I see what you are getting at, but I saw it as a symbol of our love/hate relationship with machines. They are making us miserable but we can't live without them and they did good showing that when they used the same machine (Arnold/Terminator) first as a killer and later as a savior.
I do agree with you on the whole good guy Hollywood superstar thing. In my opinion that's the reason why an actor like Gary Oldman hasn't even been nominated for an academy award.

You do have a couple of good points there sir! I suppose I'm a traditionalist and didn't like to see the original premise changed.
Gary Oldman... now there's a real actor. What a legend, at least, he was in the 80's and 90's.
Imo it's a compliment not to be up for Academy Awards or Oscars because those awards are intended for "industry" people and accomplishments. In other words, it is Prizegiving Night at the School for Mediocrity, has nothing to do with art and everything to do with cranking out pulp for mass consumption and maximum cash returns.

It was a Philip K. Dick story, but not a novel. It was a short story called We can remember it for you wholesale. It was originally published in a sci fi magazine although I don't remember which one. All of the film adaptation of Philip K Dick stories have been really good. I very much enjoyed A Scanner Darkly, and who does not like Blade Runner? :D If you're a Philip K. Dick fan, I suggest the story The Man In The High Castle, and Valis.

That's the one! I couldn't quite remember the title thanks :)
Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a go. Just waiting for my electronic book reader to arrive so I can load it up with 1000's of books :)
PS, you may know "Screamers", aka PKD's "Second Variety"? The film was low-budget and not exactly a blockbuster but it was fairly well done imo.

When Arnie is about to beat the crap out of him he say's these imortal words "i used to eat green berets for breakfast, right now i am really hungry"....classic Arnie...:)

Couldn't agree with you more. And the all time cheesiest Hollywood ending as Arnie is lowered into a vat of molten metal he gives the whiny brat a thumb's up. :rolleyes2:
