International Beer Day 2013: Celebrate your favorite Ale on IBD this Aug. 2

Beer lovers rejoice, because tomorrow is your day! Friday, August 2 is International Beer Day. So what is International Beer Day and how do we celebrate?
According to the official IBD website on Aug. 1:
International Beer Day (first Friday in August) is a global celebration of beer, taking place in pubs, breweries, and back yards all over the world -- It's a day for beer lovers everywhere to raise a toast to our brewers and bartenders, and rejoice in the greatness of beer!
Sounds like the perfect day for people who love beer.
In case you are wondering how this celebration of beer all got started, here is the quick version.
Back in 2007, International Beer Day was founded by Jesse Avshalomov. Avshalomov, along with Evan Hamilton, Aaron Araki, and Richard Hernandez went on to declare the first Friday in August a day to celebrate the many different types of beer served around the world and the people who provide it.
In other words a few friends came up with an idea and it has caught on in a big way.
Avshalomov said:
"A few years back a group of friends and I decided that there needed to be a day in celebration of all things beer, a day in thanks to the people who produce and provide our favorite beverage. So we invented International Beer Day, convinced our local bar to celebrate, made a little website for it, gave thanks to the beer industry, and had a good-ol' time." Then we started receiving emails from people who had found the IBD website and held their own celebrations in England and South Africa. We knew then that we needed to take our celebration to the world.”
Wow, talk about the power of the internet!
The official IBD Facebook page has over 32,000 likes, and IBD merchandise is a hot item this time of the year.
No matter what your favorite beer is – domestic, ale, lager, etc., if you decide to head to a local bar or pub, or even just fire up the BBQ in the back yard, be sure to celebrate it in grand fashion tomorrow! However also don’t forget to be responsible and don’t drink and drive.
