Too many good men died that could have served their country as citizens- and not enough since the Russians still don't quite seem to get it that it is all so futile.

With the men and the money they lost in fighting pointless wars, the money and resources lost in the armaments race during the Cold War and with the money lost in the astounding corruption they could have had a higher GDP then Sweden or Finland.
In the last century alone (using wikipedia):

(Finnish Civil War)
700-900 KIW
1500 executed

(Winter War)
84,994-126,875

(Continuation War)
200,000

This brings military deaths to somewhere between 287,216 and 327,775

Some 4000-7000 "Soviet" civilians fell as well.

Motö, you don't really want to know how many Russians have died in wars against Finland. What you want to do is slander and bash Russia, which is lame, pointless and old. Drop it now.

yeah, don't blame Russians, blame yourself for having a lower value complex, your contribution in Finnish forum is not worth mentioning, instead of caring for your own you spend your existence hating others, and that is gonna fuck you up, mind your own business and do something creative for a change, like, opening a thread in Finnish forum that will have some sense, and get the hell out of Russian forum cause most of us are sick of you already.

Err no:

Soviets: 126 875

Finns: 28 925

Total losses: The above table data gives a total death count of 126 875. Krivosheev's study came up with the figure of 264 908 wounded (not including the cases of sickness), thus giving the total number 391 783 Soviet casualties.

Total number of Finnish casualties (including wounded): 66 406

Damn.. one thing for sure: something really went wrong within the ranks of the Red Army..

Nope. Actually this thread is for real. I've always wondered about the statistics in Russia and how reliable they are.

For instance, the two different commaders of the Soviet forces Meretshkov and Voroshilov estimates of troops used had a gap of 400 000 men(!), which is roughly the estimate of total Soviet casualities made by Finns after the war (400-600 000). Nobody seems to know for sure how many they were in the end, but it smells good old Soviet cover up and polishing of numbers here.

Chrustjev said a million men were lost, compare this with first Soviet estimates: 500 dead.

Later official Soviet version was put at 70 000 dead and missing.

The most reliable estimate to date is the official Finnish which puts the Soviet casualities at at least 126 000 dead.
The numbers usually referred to, gives a Soviet death toll of at least 150 000 - 200 000, which with wounded, would bring the total casualty near 400 000 - 600 000.

Continuation war:
We have more accurate numbers from this war which puts the estimate at 200 000 dead Soviet soldiers and 385 000 wounded.

http://continuationwar.com/

So, all in all around 350-400 000 dead Soviet soldiers and about 700 000 wounded at the Finnish fronts during world war II as a result of Sovietrussian aggression.

Finnish losses totaled at 95 000, a tremendous loss for a nation of 3,6 million in 1945.

A finnish soldier have said: "Our country is so small and they are so many, where do we bury them all?"
A Soviet commander is reported to have said: "We only gained so much territory that we can bury our dead there!"

What say official Russia today?

Soviets lost 71 214 (+ 16 292 died in hospitals)

The Homo sovieticus have spoken. Nobody outside propaganda inbred Sovietrussian circles believes that.

and get the hell out of Russian forum cause most of us are sick of you already.

No need to read thread. When it is about Russia, why open up in Finnish section?

Perhaps so, but if you ask a question there's hardly any point in complaining about the answers you get.

Did by any chance a girlfriend, who happened to be Russian, break your heart in the past? Don't worry man, there are plenty more fish in the sea. :)

I'll give you some statistics:

Finnish subforum

21 threads, of which 3 are moved somewhere else, which leaves us with 18 threads, mrm opened 0 threads, and have approximately 5-6 replies in other 18.

Russian subforum

143 threads, mrm opened 3 threads, which is 300% more than he did in his own country subforum, mrm replies, apr 50% of the replies since he joined this forum, most threads, ruined and far from the original topic of the thread.

These statistics are more important for the present than the number of Soviet (not Russian) soldiers killed in the winter war - you need a therapy.

there are plenty more fish in the sea

But not in the Russian subforum.

Tho, maybe some Russian sexually satisfied his girlfriend because she was bored of him spending his existence talking about no democracy in Russia.

How do you know this is not therapy?
