O Oso de Salcedo (bear of Salcedo) is a festivity celebrated in Salcedo, a small village of 100 inhabitants in one of the most isolated and depopulated areas of Galicia, Spain. The feast is celebrated in February, and reminds the moment when the bear leaves the cave after hibernation, symbolizing the beginning of the agricultural cycle, encouraging good harvests and fertility of woman.

A villager wears a bear costume and through the streets of the town, surrounded and helped by his 10-12 "servants", tries to hunt down people trying to dirty them with a mixture of water and soot. The date of this feast is unknown, but has been celebrated continuously since Prehistoric or Celtic age.
