ABBA songs...singing 'Dancing Queen' at the top of my lungs even!

I guess I can't be too embarrassed about it since I am mentioning it here in public. But then again, the first step to addressing any addiction is admitting that one has a problem. ;)

Cheers for now!...Aemma

The only lighter music I have been listening to lately is Depeche Mode's Playing the Angel and Radiohead's In Rainbows. They are pretty good, just not very hard music.

In my younger days I used to listen to Barry Manilow's Greatest Hits and John Denver. There is also a guitar and cello musical album that I like.

So tell me. What´s the deal with Bonnie Tyler´s Total Eclipse of the Heart? Every Scandinavian club I´ve been to plays that song and everyone goes nuts!

Usually I'm not into simple stuff like this, but listen to that beat! Who can not love this song?

The artist was a islamophile but he was a genius too. Just incredible.

I like them a lot.

Lilian is a really good song.
I have read in the reviews that is was played in clubs world wide for awhile.

I think it is up there with their best work. I like Ultra also.

The Carpenters. For awhile there in the early 70s they just dominated the playlists on radio. And at one time I thought Olivia Newton-John was pretty hot especially with that Aussie accent. But I never liked the Beetles, the Osmonds, the Jackson Five & Barry Manilow...:fear:

I have heard of ABBA but I can't remember any ABBA songs from way back when. I don't think they ever caught on in America.

To be honest I don't really care for anything from the 70s. The music, the clothes, the hair.... I think it best if we just forgot about it all.

Oh geez, the Carpenters yes indeedie! :thumbs up Karen Carpenter did have an angelic voice though you have to admit.

No ABBA out your way Æmeric? And no Mamma Mia musical either? Oh what fun music you have missed! I even saw ABBA live at the Old Montreal Forum when I was a teenager. When Agnetha and Anni-Frid came out in Habs hockey jerseys during one set, the crowd, very understandably, went wild. It was a great concert! I also got to see Mamma Mia! the musical a couple of years ago...some more fun!! :thumbs up

But I wholeheartedly agree with you about the 70's Æmeric. It was bad then and its present-day revival is just as bad now (with the exception of 'That 70's Show' being quite the bang-on sitcom and of course some solid 'classic' rock music that came out during that decade). When I was shopping for a blouse last winter I made a passing comment to the sales clerk that I hated all of this 70's looking clothing and I uttered: "It was ugly then and it's just as ugly now!" And gave her a big old smile. Needless to say, she did not smile back. LOL! :D

Cheers for now!...Aemma

I play and sing ABBA sometimes and make it appear as if I'm sarcastic (as we born in the 80's are), but in my heart, I enjoy every second of it.

Among female pop vocalists, Karen Carpenter had one of the best voices around. :) You can hear it in this video:

Why on earth would you be embarrassed about a classic like that?

And it's just 'California Sun,' btw. ;)

I might be a little embarrassed about this, my friends and I were crazy Kiss fans back in the late 70's. I even talked my parents into buying me a membership in the Kiss Army.
I had all of their releases on vinyl and 8 track tape. :D

This album was my favorite!

I like Britney Spears' new song.

qzU9OrZlKb8

I never thought when I was 18 that I would ever like a Britney Spears song.

It's funny how, now that I am older, I like many of the artists who were popular when I was growing up that I didn't like then. I hated Britney Spears when I was a teenager.

But, even the crap from when I was growing up is better than most new music today.
