From the art-film Kippur to the popular cheek-flick Lemon Popsicle, what Israeli movies did you watch and like/dislike?
The latest major Israeli film released is the dark film "Big Bad Wolves" (2013) that 'tempers darkness with absurdism'. “That’s one thing we want to do in our movies — show the humanity inside the monster, and the monstrosity inside the human being.”
I'll watch it this week sometime.

this movie looks quite primitive imo.
I think the Cohen brothers would have to make aliyah for the Israeli movie industry to improve ;)

I don't mind 'primitive' (low budget?) looking films as long as the content (and structure) is good.

Most Cohen brothers films look "primitive" yet are masterful, making a movie is more than giving it decent content and structure.

Yes, they are extremely talented, yet they are not Israeli ;) (they also have high budgets ).
The Band's Visit is a delightful little film.

Israeli movies are made for Israeli audience, while Coen movies are made for the worldwide audience :) thats how I see it.

I only like 2 Eytan's Fox movies, Yossi & Jagger and Walk on Water, but I dislike The Bubble and others.

The Bubble was horrendous...one of the worst films I have ever watched in my life.
Waltz with Bashir (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waltz_with_Bashir)was an extraordinary artful film (the Waltz scene can give me goosebumps, actually nearly every scene in this film).

Yes, I agree it was horrendous. Good review on Waltz with Bashir, but I never watched it.

No, it was Israeli. Psycho in the forest type of film.

Some of you might enjoy Homicide, the film, I meant:

It deals with issues like assimilation, secularisation and has a tentative link to the Jewish state. Not an Israeli film, but possibly worthwhile.

That film criticizes a wall that protect thousands of Israelis from terrorist attacks.

Watched Big Bad Wolves (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsfzhiW5l8c) (2013). A nice humors (black humor) and original film, not without it's problems, but certainly worth watching.

I've recently watched "Waltz with Bashir". I think it's a good movie :)
