From that point of life I've sworn to never put my foot in something bigger than basketball trainers.I'm a stubborn MoFo.

For everyday use - Flat bottomed shoes but with a fairly casual appearance.

For use on trench (although i'm still fairly new to archaeology) i have some heavier boots with thicker grip and steel toe caps, although these shouldn't be worn in more delicate areas of the site. They are also pretty useful in snowy and icy conditions, or at least more useful than my other ones.

One thing i love about tims, is the power. I feel i can just kick someone and they'll fly across the street. Or you can just stomp someones face in, and teach them a lesson not to fuck with someone who has Tims on. Only drawback is if you were being chased by some vicious animals, you'd probably die. Tims greatly reduce my normal speed. Without Tims i'm West African, with Tims on? I'm East Asian.

Converse and heavy duty boots for when it snows

They're called "Coggs" and they're not much to look at, but they ARE very comfortable. However, to me, their best feature is that they fasten with two VELCRO straps .

Even before peripheral neuropathy had numbed my fingers so that I can't tie knots, I thought that it was silly to tie our shoes on with pieces of string. I still have dress shoes that lace on, but I have the devil's own time tying the knots . So, I wesr the Coggs most of the time.

They are not very durable. The leather on the plackets and around the heelcaps is very thin and wears through to the fabric underneath too early, while the soles still have plenty of mileage on them.

I grew up in New England during the Depression. We have a sayin' in these pahts : "Use it up; wear it out. Make it do....or do without " Ayuh ! My way of makin' the Cawggs shoes lahst longah is to paint th' exposed fabric with
acrylic paint straight from th' tube. Y'd hahdly notice it f'm a few feet away.

[That's "daown east" dialect. Nobody uses it anymore. When I was a boy, all the old Yankees talked that way.]

Palladium boots/shoes are my favorite. I've found nothing else that last as long or are as comfortable without being gaudy looking. I had to throw away a pair of $120 born shoes recently because the soles developed holes in 3 months. What a waste. Palladium shoes are like a more rugged/comfortable version of Converse.

I mostly wear 3 inch pointed heels (it's part of my beliefs for enhancing the 'S' curve in the spine) and I've quite a few long close-fitting leather boots (bought from Camden, London, which has loads of choices of shoes and boots and elegant heeled sandals.)

I store all my boots and shoes in see-through, plastic, breathable and stackable boxes, which have drop-down sides to be able to access the shoes and boots without removing the boxes. I use a special ringed hanger for storing and accessing belts quickly & easily.

I wear flat pumps when doing longer walks. I've often worn the pointed heels on my shoes and boots down during walks in them and had metal points added to the end of the heels in shoe-shops to help the heels last longer.

I've got my heart set on buying these, they're ideal for this season and I love both colours and textures and can't make up my mind:

I guess I'll opt for the black leather ones, as much as the soft pink shade is one of my favourite colours (along with ebony, soft grey, and soft cream,) they'll be harder to keep clean, but I really love the colour of the soft pink ones.
