As 3 million children have become displaced as a result of 2 years of bloody conflict, a child is killed every 2 hours in Syria, the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) has announced on Monday.
The London-based group which tracks civilian and dissident casualties said that pro-Assad forces have killed 101,513 people between March 2011 and August 21, 2013. This figure includes 89,644 civilians, of which were 10,914 children and 9,911 women. The group said the percentage of civilian deaths are higher than that during the World War II. SNHR said 2,964 inmates have lost their lives as a result of torture, while 11,894 rebels died due to clashes with government forces across the country.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights also revealed that a child is killed in every 2 hours and a woman is killed for every 3 hours. The group also expressed that 9,000 children and 5,000 women are detained The United Nations Children’s Fund and UN Refugee Agency announced last week that 1 million children have become refugees while 2 million children have become internally displaced.
