Baltic Germans

This is what wikipedia has to say:

The Baltic Germans (German: Deutsch-Balten, or Baltendeutsche) were mostly ethnically German inhabitants of the eastern shore of the Baltic Sea, which today form the countries of Estonia and Latvia. The Baltic German population never made up more than 10% of the total. They formed the social, commercial, political and cultural élite in that region for several centuries. Some of them also took high positions in the military and civilian life of the Russian Empire, particularly in Saint Petersburg.

In 1881, there were approximately 46,700 Germans in Estonia (5.3% of the population). According to the Russian Empire Census of 1897, there were 120,191 Germans in Latvia, or 6.2% of the population.
In addition to Estonia and Latvia, Germans in Lithuania, Finland and Sweden are sometimes considered Baltic Germans.

haha. Volga Germans looked even less "German" because many of them came out of the dark regions such as Bavaria

One Latvian guy is writing many Latvian Germans had their ancestries from northern Germany or the Netherlands. Many had local, Latvian ancestry. German was a social status rather than ethnicity in Latvia. He is also writing that some Swedes, Poles, Russians and possibly Jews mixed with Latvian Germans.

Some of them probably have roots from elswhere, not just strictly Germany. Weren't nobles quite mixed?
They were a mixed bunch with all sorts of assimilation and language shifting going on through history. That doesn't mean they're not Germans.
