We don't really have any theory of dark hair. The teuchter is stereotypically seen as fair, tall/strong & ruddy cheeked, with a red beard.

That's the common stereotype, on the other hand we have people who believe the Highlands are dark-ish. Anyways, if my sister gets fat when she gets old she will look somewhat similar to Mary Ann Kennedy. Actually she could it in my family, mainly on the father's side.

Aye, when I think of "Highlander" I think of him, mainly after his role in "Made of Honour". But there are sources that claim this:

The Highlander went barelegged and often barefooted, which caused the curious description of the Highlanders as "redshanked." This does not mean that they were red-haired. The true Highlander is predominantly DARK:
